Copy: Tinder replaced the default “no, thanks” with something rather clever. 

I love it when you see people minding the smallest details. 

Humor: Teuxdeux (@teuxdeux) notifies you that they can’t connect to the server. It’s never fun if something doesn’t work. Some humor might ease the tension.

Notifications: Instagram’s (@instagram) News tab keeps important updates at the top while the rest keeps on moving down to the bottom. 

Storytelling/consistency: Soundcloud (@soundcloud) hasn’t got a machine sending you notifications, but the SoundCloud Weather Man. And it’s not an email alert either, it’s called SoundCloud Weather Report.

Friending: on Instagram (@instagram) you can find existing friends, followers etc. on social networks like twitter and facebook. However when you’ve found and added them, Instagram still periodically checks whether someone you know on these networks signs up later and lets you know in the news tab.  

Notification messages: OkCupid adds a log in link to every (email notification) message, so you can actually also log in from other (not logged in) devices.
